FOUNDED IN PASSION
RIPTIDE Percussion was founded in the fall of 2008 as part of the Teal Sound Drum & Bugle Corps in Jacksonville, FL, and competed in their first FFCC contest in 2009, winning first place in their class. In 2012, they split from Teal Sound, and in 2013, the ensemble reformed as RPT Percussion Ensemble.
The ensemble has been a 3-time FFCC Independent “A” Class Gold Medalist and 4-time WGI Independent “A” Class Finalist and WGI Virtual Gold Medalist in 2023. In 2024, the ensemble was promoted to Open Class. RPT went inactive in 2025. In the summer of 2026, a group felt that the area was in need of a youth ensemble open to all skill levels, and RIPTIDE was reborn.
RIPTIDE is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit youth organization under the umbrella of Paradigm Performance Ensemble, Inc.
Riptide is based in Central Florida, representing Lake County and all surrounding counties
